NILDS, PLAC Renew Commitment to Enhancing Democratic Governance

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) and the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) have reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing democratic governance in Nigeria by empowering lawmakers.

During a visit to NILDS’s permanent site, Barrister Clement Nwankwo, the Executive Director of PLAC, stressed that this partnership reflects their commitment to strengthening democracy.

Prof. Abubakar O.Sulaiman, the Director General of NILDS, warmly welcomed the collaboration and praised PLAC for its proactive approach to good governance. He assured PLAC of NILDS’s support in the 10th Assembly’s efforts to introduce legislative frameworks for the nation’s progress.

The importance of capacity building in the 10th National Assembly was emphasized by the Director General, particularly highlighting the recently concluded leadership retreat and the upcoming Senate retreat on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms as part of Institute’s commitment to enhancing lawmakers’ capabilities.

Both Prof. Sulaiman and Barr. Clement Nwankwo believe that investing in legislators’ capacity building will significantly improve the quality of bills and motions passed in the 10th Assembly.

They are optimistic that the collaboration will yield fruitful results, enabling the National Assembly to contribute to good governance in the country through legislation and other parliamentary initiatives.
