AGNES Seeks NILDS’ Support to Enhance Nigeria’s Active Involvement in Climate Change Affairs.

Kenya’s African Group of Negotiators Experts Support, AGNES, has requested support from Nigeria’s National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) to create opportunities in climate change matters. During their visit, led by Dr. David Awolala, the Director of Climate Policy, they emphasized the dangers of global warming and the need for Africa’s participation in climate change initiatives.

Dr. Awolala also sought NILDS’ assistance in facilitating Nigeria’s Parliament’s involvement in capacity development workshops and conferences.

In response, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, Director General of NILDS, praised the group’s initiative and assured them of the Institute’s support. He stated that the committee system of any Parliament is crucial and that the Legislature’s involvement at the National and State levels would be facilitated for a lasting impact.

Also present during the visit were Prof. Shiyan Peters, Acting Director of Economic and Social Research at NILDS, and Joy Oyetubo from the African Group of Negotiators Experts Support.
