The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) and the Americas Empowerment Institute (AEMPIN) have formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. This milestone agreement was officially executed at NILDS’ permanent site in Abuja on November 1st, 2023.

The MOU was signed by Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, Director General of NILDS, and Dr. Edith Ailemen, coordinator of AEMPIN, underscoring their joint commitment to bolster collaboration in various areas, including relationship building, knowledge sharing, empowerment, capacity development, and training.

Prof. Sulaiman expressed gratitude for the partnership and emphasized that the agreement aligns with NILDS’ mission to enhance legislative capacity not only in Nigeria but throughout Africa.

In response, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim, a member of the AEMPIN delegation, commended the Director General for the inauguration of the permanent site, hailing it as the “preeminent working environment among Africa’s Legislative and Democratic training institutions to date.” He also lauded NILDS’ adeptness in forming and nurturing strategic partnerships and securing funding, expressing optimism for a mutually advantageous relationship.
