Overview
The department is headed by a Director who leads a team of experts (research fellows). The key objective of the Department is to facilitate training courses on democracy, political culture and development. It will also promote democracy issues in Nigeria and beyond through training, advocacy, networking, action-oriented research, publications and documentation

Prof. Adewale Aderemi
Prof. Adewale Aderemi is a Professor of Political Economy and Development Studies. He holds degrees in Political Science (Ibadan), Politics of International Resources and Development (Leeds UK) and PhD (Leeds Beckett UK). He was a Guinness, Foreign and Commonwealth scholar, Archie Mafeje Fellow (Africa Institute of South Africa),Tracking Development PhD Fellow (Afrika Studie Centruum, Leisen), pioneer CODESRIA South-South laureate Havana, Cuba and Social Science Reserach Council New York Fellow. He was Head, Department of Political Science Lagos State University and Research Director Africa Asia Development Policy Research Institute (AADPRI). He is well published and has presented papers in scientific conferences all over the World. He has an extensive consultancy experience.
