The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to prioritizing the national interest in all his endeavors.
Professor Sulaiman made this declaration on Friday, 30th May 2025, during his closing remarks at a symposium themed “21st Century Leadership for National Transformation.” The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Linus Okorie, MFR, Founder of the GOTNI Leadership Centre.
The event, held at the Institute’s permanent site in Abuja, commemorated Professor Sulaiman’s six years of impactful leadership as Director General.
In his remarks, the DG expressed profound appreciation to the President of the Senate and Chairman of the NILDS Governing Council, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, as well as the Alternate Chairman and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, for their steadfast support, particularly during challenging periods.
Professor Sulaiman, who received accolades and goodwill messages from various dignitaries, credited the Institute’s notable achievements over the past six years to the collective dedication of the management and staff. He acknowledged that while the journey has not been without its challenges, it has equally been marked by significant triumphs, sustained by resolute courage and determination.
Looking ahead, the former Minister of National Planning called for continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the leadership of the National Assembly, and NILDS itself. He emphasized that with enhanced funding and an established internal framework for sustainability, NILDS is well-positioned to build on its successes.
