Nilds Begins 2024 Quiz Competition on Democracy and Legislature

 

In a bid to promote democratic principles among young Nigerians in secondary schools, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS has launched its annual quiz competition on Legislature and Democracy.

The competition, open to senior secondary students from all registered government and private schools, is aimed at equipping young Nigerians with a deeper understanding of the Legislature and the values of democracy.

The ninth edition of the competition took place nationwide on Thursday, October 17th, with the objective of “providing continual education on the Legislature and expanding students’ knowledge of its history, practices, and processes, fostering a better understanding of civic and democratic governance.”

In the various state-level contests, Misau Model School from Bauchi State emerged as the winner; Vetland Grammar School from Lagos State claimed victory in Lagos; Ansarul Islam Secondary School triumphed in Kwara State; and Uncle Bado Memorial College took the top spot in Kaduna State.

Other winning schools included Vicayo Model School from Osun State, Maiduguri Capital School from Borno State, and Community Secondary School from Bayelsa State.

The state-level winners will advance to the zonal competition, scheduled for October 31st, 2024. The grand finale is set to take place in Abuja on Monday, November 11th, 2024.
