The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar O Sulaiman, has called on stakeholders to initiate legislative measures to address security challenges across the nation.
Prof. Sulaiman made this appeal while opening a dialogue on the Building a Resilient National Security Framework through Legislative Intervention, organized by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies in Abuja on Wednesday.
He emphasized the need for legislation that complements the Federal Government’s efforts and also adapts to the evolving nature of security threats.
“Most importantly, our discussions must clearly define areas where legislative interventions can be introduced to fine-tune and strengthen our laws, enabling them to effectively respond to and resolve the changing dynamics of security threats at global, regional, and national levels,” he stated.
He further highlighted the importance of prioritizing the enhancement of security institutions and improving civil-military relations in Nigeria.
